Plumbing in Ventura, CA - Master Construction

Ventura's plumbing problems map to its neighborhoods. Galvanized supply lines in anything untouched since the 1960s, cast iron drains under the pre-war streets downtown, slab leaks out on Pierpont where pipe runs through concrete a few feet above the water table. Master Construction handles plumbing across Ventura with licensed crews (Lic. #1027281) and the advantage of being the contractor that opens walls for a living.

Ventura Pipes, by Era and Neighborhood

Galvanized steel supply lines rust from the inside. Pressure drops first, then water discolors, then pinholes start, usually behind a wall. Most midtown and College-area homes that have never been repiped are running on borrowed time, and a repair threaded onto 60-year-old galvanized often does more harm than good. We tell owners plainly when a repair makes sense and when the system is done.

Downtown and the Avenue drain through original cast iron and clay laterals, and the street trees that make those blocks worth living on send roots straight into the joints. Recurring backups are the tell. A camera inspection shows the truth: a cleanable blockage, a bellied line, or a lateral that needs replacement. We scope before we quote.

On slab homes near the beach, supply lines run through or under concrete. A warm spot on the floor, a water bill that jumps, the sound of running water with everything off: slab leak. We locate them precisely and usually reroute overhead instead of jackhammering blind. Water heaters near the shore also die young, because salt air corrodes fittings and burners. Placement and anode maintenance matter more here than inland.

Repipes, Water Heaters and Remodel Plumbing

Whole-house repipes are our signature plumbing work: copper or PEX, routed to keep wall openings small, finished with texture-matched patches by our own drywall crew. Most repipes run three to five days with water back on every evening.

Water heaters get sized to the household, not the shelf. Standard tank replacements happen fast, tankless conversions include the gas line upsizing they actually require, and heat pump units go in where the electrical panel can carry one. Every install pulls its VenturaOPS permit, because unpermitted water heaters surface at sale time in Ventura constantly.

When a kitchen or bathroom remodel moves fixtures, our plumbers are the same company as the builders. Drains and gas lines relocate in the same pass as framing, valves and pans go in before tile, and nobody waits on a sub.

Why Ventura Homeowners Choose Us

Plumbing companies sell fixes. We sell the house working. Because we are home builders, a slab leak reroute includes the drywall and paint, a repipe includes the patching, and a failed wax ring that rotted the subfloor gets the floor rebuilt, not just the toilet reset. One contract covers the whole repair.

Property managers get response between tenants and documentation after: repipes on access windows, angle stops and supply lines replaced during turns because small parts prevent big claims. HOA boards get common-line work coordinated across units, certificates of insurance, and per-unit pricing that holds.

Plumbing permits in Ventura run electronically through VenturaOPS. Water heaters, repipes, drain relocations and gas work all pull them, and inspections book into our schedule from the start. Lateral work coordinates with the city when the digging reaches the street.

Ventura Plumbing - FAQ

How do I know if my house still has galvanized pipe?

Look where the water line enters the house or under a sink: gray threaded steel, often rust-stained at the joints, is galvanized. Weak flow at the farthest bathroom is the classic symptom. Ventura homes untouched since the 1960s almost always still have it, and we confirm in minutes during a walkthrough.

Is a slab leak an emergency?

It is a today problem, not always a right-now problem, unless water is surfacing. We locate the leak precisely, then usually reroute the line overhead rather than opening the slab, which is faster and cleaner. What you should not do is wait a month while the bill climbs and the moisture feeds mold.

Copper or PEX for a repipe?

Either, done right, outlasts your ownership. PEX installs faster with fewer wall openings; copper remains the premium standard some owners simply prefer. We quote both and tell you what we would put in our own house, which for most Ventura repipes is PEX.

Why do water heaters fail early near the beach?

Salt air corrodes the fittings and burner assembly from outside while hard water works from inside. Coastal installs from us get corrosion-resistant connectors and a serviceable anode rod, which is why they last. Where the heater sits matters as much as what brand it is.

My drains back up every few months. Roots?

On the older streets, almost certainly. Clearing restores flow; the camera tells you whether the line itself is failing. Clay and cast iron laterals with root intrusion eventually need replacement, and knowing which year that bill arrives is worth the cost of a scope.

Do you handle plumbing for remodels?

It is half our plumbing work. Kitchens and bathrooms that move fixtures need drains, supplies, valves and gas relocated in step with framing and tile, and our plumbers and builders are the same company. Nothing stalls waiting for a sub to call back.

Do you work with property managers and HOAs?

Daily. Turnover plumbing punch lists, repipes scheduled around tenants, common-line repairs coordinated across units for boards. Certificates of insurance, per-unit pricing, one contact.
